My stepson was in Columbia, MD this week visiting us (he’s entering his junior year at Mizzou in, ironically, Columbia, MO). More than anything while he was out here on the East Coast, he wanted to hit a stadium he’d never been to…luckily, the Phillies were at home (against the “American League Houston Astros” – I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to that one).
I lived in the City of Brotherly Love twice while I was consulting – so know my way around the area reasonably well…which basically means I can both spell and pronounce “Schuylkill”. None of us had been to Citizens Bank Park (the Vet was still there when I lived in Center City), the weather contributed nothing but awesomeness, and it was really a great night.
It was 5-1 and looked pretty hopeless when we left in the top of the 8th (headed towards South Street, where I introduced MJ and Jesse to the only Philly cheesesteak that actually matters – Jim’s).
Naturally, someone cranked a grand slam in the bottom of 8th and the Phillies ended up winning 6-5.
Oh, that’s right – I did get a couple of pix…:)
